Resources

We all need to know good resources to help us in our search for Financial Independence.

Below I list some of the websites, companies and resources I’ve found useful in this journey.

Personal Finance

The UK personal finance flow chart

One of the best resources and a tried and tested route to being better off.

Finance Sites

Check my File

A credit check against all the agencies in the UK in one place. I found this very useful when trying to piece together my debts. I’ve come a long way since then, but checkmyfile really helped get me started. *affiliate link.

Money Saving Expert

A UK financial site with a wealth of financial advice and products to help you save money.

PocketRate

Another UK finance site allowing comparison of various financial products. Need to renew insurance or change your broadband? This is a good place to start looking.

Brokers

Interactive Investor

I use them to manage my SIPP and ISAs. I like the variety of options I can choose from and the low fixed fee you pay. You can choose ETFs from multiple providers which give you a better choice.

Vanguard

If I wasn’t already signed up to ii.co.uk, I’d probably sign up to Vanguard to get started.

Trading 212

Use my link, sign up for Trading 212 Invest, top up £10, and we both get a free share!

Do you want to get a free stock share worth up to ‎£100?

Create a Trading 212 Invest account using this link www.trading212.com/invite/GIuotlR6 and we both get a free share!

Apps

Emma

Emma has to be the single-handedly the best thing I’ve used to control my expenses. It links all your bank accounts, credit card and savings account into one place and it works in the UK! I track it every month into a spreadsheet and this is what I make my expense reports from. See my review of Emma.

You Need a Budget

You need a budget is a great tool and really teaches you budgeting in a novel way that works. It’s US based and that’s why I prefer Emma, but it’s worth a look.

The calculator site

A useful site which has various calculators for compound interest and the like.
